"John Distilleries to Launch New Single Malts, Triples Production Capacity at Goa Distillery".

John Distilleries Ltd (JDL) is set to expand its Paul John Single Malts (PJSM) portfolio with three new launches this fiscal year, while also introducing two additional Select Casks in the coming months. The company is tripling its production capacity at its Goa distillery, increasing it from 1.3 million to 3 million litres annually. The upgraded distillery is expected to be fully operational soon, boosting PJSM’s production and exports.

Among the new releases, Paul John Single Malt X will be launched in partnership with Avolta Duty-Free and will be available exclusively at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport. Other launches include Paul John Single Malt Mitr 3, exclusively for the Malt Society of Arabia, and Paul John Single Malt "Ego," part of the Alter-Ego cask series, available through Bengaluru’s Single Malt Amateur Club (SMAC).

Paul P. John, Chairman of John Distilleries, highlighted the growing demand for Indian-made single malts, stating that Indian consumers are increasingly turning to high-quality domestic products. He noted that India, one of the largest whiskey-consuming nations, is now producing quality single malts that are gaining traction with consumers.

PJSM, which is currently exported to over 50 countries, is the fastest-growing export segment for JDL. The increased production capacity in Goa will further boost exports, with the company also exploring new international markets while expanding its presence across India. JDL has invested ₹100 crore in the Goa distillery to support this expansion.

In FY24, PJSM sold nearly 72,000 cases in the domestic market, with a 30% year-on-year growth for the past three years, securing a 20% market share in the premium category. Karnataka, Goa, Haryana, and Maharashtra lead in domestic sales. Internationally, PJSM sold over 30,000 cases in FY24, with top markets including the US, France, UAE, and Japan, also experiencing 30% annual growth. About 50% of JDL’s international sales are attributed to PJSM.

JDL's product range includes single malts, XO brandy, crafted gins, blended whiskies, premium wines, and IMFL whisky/brandy spirits. The company plans to introduce new rums and vodka while continuing to grow its portfolio. JDL operates 12 distilleries across eight Indian states and produced 24 million cases last fiscal year, with sales exceeding 22 million cases.
