"Jindal Steel & Power Successfully Commissions 6 MTPA Hot Strip Mill in Odisha"

Jindal Steel & Power Ltd announced a significant achievement on Friday with the successful commissioning of its state-of-the-art 6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) hot strip mill at the steel manufacturing facility in Angul, Odisha.

The inauguration of this hot strip mill marks a strategic move for the company, signaling its entry into the competitive flat products market. Notably, the mill's commissioning was completed in a remarkable 29-month timeframe, according to a statement released by the company. The hot strip mill, which commenced operations on January 10, produced its first set of coils, dispatched on January 15.

Describing the capabilities of the hot strip mill, the company stated, "The hot strip mill is capable of producing 1.00 mm thick and 1,680 mm wide coils and is equipped with advanced features like transfer bar cooling, edge heater, coil box, and heat shields, ensuring top-notch flatness, uniform mechanical properties, and production of superior value-added grades."

The products from the hot strip mill are expected to cater to various sectors, including automotive, construction, oil, downstream cold rolling, galvanizing, and color coating. The company's foray into the flat products market is expected to enhance its market presence and contribute to its overall growth trajectory."
