Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) is set to extend Metro services to Jagatpura and Vaishali Nagar while also linking the operational Line 1 with the upcoming Line 2 in the city’s southern region.
According to the detailed project report (DPR) for Line 2, the new corridor will intersect Line 1 at Chandpole Metro station in the north, with an additional connection planned in southern Jaipur.
"Vaishali Nagar is on the southwest and Jagatpura on the southeast of the city. By creating this new alignment, we aim to connect Line 1 and Line 2 in south Jaipur as well," a senior JMRC official said.
The state budget, announced by Finance Minister Diya Kumari, has approved a DPR for metro extensions to Vaishali Nagar and Jagatpura. JMRC is working on three major metro corridor extensions: from the under-construction 200-Feet Bypass extension of Line 1 to Vaishali Nagar, from Jagatpura to Tonk Road in Sanganer (part of the proposed Line 2), and from Tonk Road to New Sanganer Road (Line 1), using either Gopalpura Bypass Road or ISKCON Road.
JMRC is currently in the process of identifying land for the Jagatpura terminal, with potential connections to Sanganer, the airport, or Pratap Nagar stations on Line 2. Similarly, an extension may link Line 1 to Mansarovar station, ensuring better connectivity across the city.
