IOC Gujarat Refinery Gears Up for Phased Maintenance Shutdown Until June-July

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) officials announced recently that the ongoing "periodic maintenance and overhaul" of the Gujarat Refinery, which commenced in February, will continue until the end of June or July.

According to Biplob Biswas, Executive Director and head of the Gujarat Refinery, two units have been shut down, and the maintenance will proceed in phases. He clarified that the refinery will not be completely shut down but is currently operating at 60% capacity, with a possibility of a slight further reduction.

Biswas explained that the periodic shutdowns are necessary for the upkeep of machinery and plants, as well as for the replacement of catalysts used in the refining process.
