India's first underground war memorial ready in city.
Dedicated to ultimate sacrifice of the soldiers, Shaurya Smarak almost ready to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Spending around Rs. 41 crore on the structure, Madhya Pradesh government has come up with the first underground war memorial where the sacrifice of 280 soldiers will be commemorated. The initial budget for the memorial was Rs 16 crore which rose to 26.30 crore and the structure has been completed in 41 crores. The art gallery inside the memorial has itself cost the government Rs 5 crores.
The memorial garden has been designed by the Mumbai based company UCJ Architecture and Environment, which was selected through a national competition conducted by Environment Planning and Coordination Organisation (EPCO). EPCO is the nodal body which has been assigned the work of designing and constructing the memorial park by Capital Project Administration (CPA).
