India seeks World Bank finance for 4GW mega solar farm.

The Indian Government has asked for a $500 million loan from the World Bank to support the first stage of what is intended to be a four gigawatt solar PV project in Rajasthan.

This would be the largest single solar power farm project ever built globally by a considerable margin and is expected to generate 6,400 gigawatt-hours. It is planned to be built on land belonging to Hindustan Salts.

The World Bank loan would be used to support construction of the first phase of the project understood to be 750 megawatts in capacity.
