Hindustan Copper Announces ₹400 Crore Concentrator Plant in MP.
Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL) is set to embark on a significant expansion, with plans to construct a new ₹400 crore concentrator plant at its Malanjkhand Copper Project in Madhya Pradesh. This new facility, boasting a 3 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) capacity, is a key component of the state-run company's ambitious strategy to triple its ore production capacity over the next two to three years.
According to a top company official, HCL anticipates commencing construction on the new plant next year. The company currently operates a 2.5 mtpa concentrator plant at the same Malanjkhand site.
A concentrator plant plays a crucial role in mining operations by processing raw mined ore to separate valuable minerals from waste rock. The process yields a concentrated product with a higher proportion of the desired minerals, which is then sent for further stages like smelting or refining to produce the final metal or mineral. This expansion will significantly enhance HCL's processing capabilities and support its increased ore output.
