Helion invests Rs. 35 crore in iD Fresh Food.

iD Fresh Food has announced that the company has received Rs. 35 crore of funding from Helion Venture Partners.

iD is known for its idly and dosa batter. This is the first round of institutional fund raising by the company.

Founded in 2005 by IIM Bangalore alumnus PC Musthafa and his friends Shamsudeen TK, Abdul Nazer, Jafar TK and Noushad TA, iD Fresh Food is a player in the ready to cook brand category.

'iD already sells Rs. 7 crore worth of food products each month in eight cities and with this round of funding, we are poised to see the next level of growth. It will aid our plans to introduce more products and expand to more cities, several of them outside India.' Musthafa PC, chief executive, iD Fresh Food (India) said.

iD, which started with packaging idly and dosa batter, has now expanded its portfolio to include Malabar parotas, wheat parotas, chapatis and chutneys.

The company has production units in six cities -- two plants in Bangalore and one each in Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Mangalore and Dubai (Middle East). iD products are also supplied to distribution centres in Mysore and Pune.
