Guwahati Airport Reports Double-Digit Growth in Q1 FY25, Handles 1.81M Passengers.

Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) in Guwahati has reported a robust operational performance for the first quarter of the current financial year (April to June 2025). The airport saw significant year-on-year double-digit growth in both aircraft movements and passenger traffic, reaffirming its vital role as a key aviation hub in Northeast India.

During the quarter, LGBIA managed 12,470 aircraft movements and served an impressive 1.81 million passengers. This surge reflects the escalating demand for air connectivity throughout the region, underscoring the airport's contribution to integrating Northeast India economically with the rest of the country and internationally.

The airport's strong performance is attributed to continuous investments in infrastructure, technology, and enhancing the passenger experience. A notable highlight was April 10, 2025, which recorded the highest single-day passenger footfall with 21,594 travelers passing through the terminal. The top three destinations by passenger volume remained consistent: Delhi, Kolkata, and Bengaluru, showcasing strong connectivity with major metropolitan cities.

Looking ahead, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently stated that the new terminal building at LGBIA is expected to be completed in the latter part of the current year. Once fully operational, this expanded facility is poised to transform LGBIA into a crucial gateway to Southeast Asian nations, further boosting regional connectivity and economic ties.
