Gurgaon Metro Expansion: 28-Station Corridor Proposed for Citywide Connectivity.

Gurgaon is set to get a major new metro line connecting some of its fastest-growing urban and industrial zones, with the detailed project report (DPR) now awaiting approval from the Chief Minister, according to TOI.

The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) has finalised the DPR for a 35-km metro corridor linking Sector 56 on Golf Course Extension Road to Pachgaon on the Delhi–Jaipur Highway. The project, estimated to cost ₹10,428 crore, will feature 28 stations along the route.

A key highlight of the proposed corridor is a dedicated metro station within the upcoming Global City in Sector 36A, a large mixed-use township being developed by the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) across nearly 1,000 acres. Officials said the station is expected to reduce dependence on private vehicles for residents and businesses in the area. HSIIDC has also agreed to contribute ₹1,500 crore towards the project.

The corridor has been designed with multiple integration points to strengthen regional connectivity. At Sector 56, it will connect with the existing Rapid Metro network running from Cyber City. Near Sector 61, it will intersect with the proposed Namo Bharat line between Gurgaon and Greater Noida via Faridabad and Noida. At Pachgaon, the southern terminal, an interchange will link the line with the proposed Delhi–Bawal Namo Bharat corridor.

An additional interchange is planned at Vatika Chowk, where a future Bhondsi–Rajiv Chowk metro line is proposed to pass.

The alignment begins at Sector 56 and passes through key residential and commercial zones including Golf Course Road, Sectors 61, 62, Nirvana Country, and Sector 66, before reaching Vatika Chowk. It then runs along the Southern Peripheral Road through Sectors 69, 70 and 75, and proceeds towards Kherki Daula, where another interchange with the Namo Bharat corridor is planned.

From there, the route continues through Sector 36A (Global City), Sectors 88 to 91, and Kankrola village, before entering the Manesar region via Sectors M-15, M-14, M-9 and M-8. The corridor then passes through Sectors P-4, P-5 and P-7 before terminating at Pachgaon.

Under the proposed funding structure, the central government will contribute 10% of the project cost, while 20% will come as equity from the Haryana government and the remaining 80% will be raised through institutional borrowing. The structure was presented by consultancy firm RITES during a meeting held on January 16, 2025.

The project gained momentum following a meeting at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on October 22, 2024, where it was decided that Haryana would lead execution of the corridor.

Once approved by the Chief Minister, the DPR will move into the statutory clearance stage before construction can begin.
