Gujarat to Develop Dedicated Space Manufacturing Ecosystem in Ahmedabad.

The Gujarat government recently announced plans to establish a dedicated space manufacturing hub near Khoraj in Ahmedabad and set up a Common Technical Facility (CTF) with an investment of up to ₹100 crore to support the development and testing of space technologies.

The initiative will be implemented in collaboration with the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) and is aimed at strengthening the state's position in India's growing space sector by providing advanced infrastructure to start-ups and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The proposed space manufacturing park at GIDC Khoraj will serve as a shared infrastructure platform for companies involved in satellite manufacturing, launch vehicle components and space-based applications. The facility will enable firms to test and validate their systems without incurring the high costs of developing in-house testing infrastructure.

The Common Technical Facility will be equipped with a range of advanced testing and validation systems, including a cleanroom, thermal vacuum chamber, vibration testing equipment capable of handling payloads of up to 12 tonnes, and electromagnetic interference/electromagnetic compatibility (EMI/EMC) testing facilities.

In addition, the centre will house climate simulation chambers, mass properties measurement systems, magnetic field testing infrastructure and optical calibration facilities for Earth observation satellites.

The project is expected to boost innovation, reduce development costs for emerging space companies and create a robust ecosystem for space manufacturing and technology development in Gujarat.
