"Grasim's Six Paint Plants Set to Be Fully Operational by Year-End, Aiming for ₹10,000 Crore Revenue"

Grasim Industries has invested ₹7,000 crore in its paints business and expects all six of its plants to be fully operational by the end of this fiscal year. The company, which invested ₹4,471 crore in capital expenditures last year, is confident of reaching ₹10,000 crore in revenue within three years of full-scale operations.

Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of Grasim Industries, announced that production commenced at three of the plants in April, with the remaining three on track for completion by FY25. These plants, located across the country, are fully integrated, connected, and automated, allowing for large-scale production of over 1,200 SKUs. The facilities are powered by renewable energy and adhere to a zero liquid discharge policy, ensuring consistent quality and environmental responsibility, Birla stated at the company’s 77th Annual General Meeting on Tuesday.

Birla highlighted the positive response from painters and contractors, which reinforces Grasim's strategy to eliminate the ‘pain’ from painting.

This year alone, Grasim invested ₹4,471 crore in capital expenditure, bringing the total investment in the paint business to nearly ₹7,000 crore since its inception. "We remain confident in our guidance of achieving ₹10,000 crore in revenue within three years of full-scale operations," Birla affirmed.

In addition, Grasim’s B2B e-commerce platform for building materials, Birla Pivot, surpassed ₹1,000 crore in revenue in its first year. The platform has expanded to include 35 product categories and over 18,000 SKUs, sourced from more than 150 Indian and international brands, and delivers to over 200 cities across 25 states.

With strong growth in the construction materials sector and rapid digital adoption across industries, Birla Pivot aims to achieve $1 billion in revenue within the next three years, Birla added.

Looking forward, Birla expressed optimism about the growth potential in Grasim's established businesses—Cement, Cellulosic Fibres, and Chemicals-while also positioning emerging ventures in Paints and B2B e-commerce as key drivers of future success.
