Govt agency plans food joints at IT parks.

Kerala State Coastal Area Development Corporation (KSCADC) is planning to launch food joints at IT parks in the State to cater to the growing demand for value-added fish products among the techies.

To begin with, the Corporation will set up five outlets under the brand name Fish Maid at Technopark and Infopark campuses, to be scaled up to 100 across the country in three years. Initially, these outlets will be launched at Infosys campus at Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram and Inforpark, Kochi.

The idea is to promote fish as a healthy substitute for junk food, KSCADC Managing Director K Ampady said.

'We are aggressively expanding our retail network based on the positive feedback from the outlet which we opened for our products at a shopping mall in Kochi. We are targeting a revenue of Rs. 1 crore per annum from each outlet considering the demand for fish based convenience products in the ready-to-eat segment' he said adding that KSCADC would launch the first five outlets at IT parks within the next two months.

'Though the outlets will have canned soft drinks, they will also present a variety of healthy alternates like soups and fresh juices to the customers. Our specialties will be shrimp and crab soups,' he said during an interaction.
