Government to Build 1,000 Panchayat Buildings.

Panchayat Raj minister KT Rama Rao has said that his department will sanction permission for construction of new buildings for 1,000 gram panchayats.

In a release on Thursday, Rama Rao said that the orders to this effect will be issued on Friday. He said the government’s aim was that every panchayat office should have its own building in the state. There are 8,695 panchayats in the state. Several panchayats do not have own buildings and the government has decided to construct new buildings, he said.

Those buildings of panchayats, which are in a dilapidated condition, too would be replaced with new buildings, the minister said.

The government has decided to start Palle Samagra Seva Kendras and these centres should function from panchayat offices, KTR said.
