GMR Airports is stepping up its airport infrastructure expansion with major investments planned across its portfolio, particularly in Delhi, Hyderabad and Nagpur. The group is reportedly planning to invest around ₹19,400 crore in expanding and upgrading Delhi and Hyderabad airports over the coming years, strengthening their position as major international aviation hubs.
At Delhi International Airport, GMR plans further capacity enhancement to meet rising international passenger traffic. The airport currently has the capacity to handle around 100 million passengers annually, supported by its extensive domestic and international connectivity.
Hyderabad Airport is also targeted for additional terminal expansion, with longer-term capacity enhancement planned as passenger demand grows. Meanwhile, GMR has unveiled a major multi-phase expansion programme for Nagpur Airport, beginning with an initial investment of about ₹300 crore. Passenger handling capacity is planned to increase from around 3 million to 30 million passengers annually, with potential to scale up to 50 million. The company also aims to develop Nagpur as a major cargo hub with long-term cargo capacity of 150,000 tonnes annually
Together, these projects reinforce GMR’s strategy of building large-scale airport and aviation ecosystems across India.
