GMR Aero Technic has signed a licence agreement with Honeywell Aerospace to provide maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for line replaceable units (LRUs) used in LEAP aircraft engines, expanding its component repair capabilities.
Under the agreement, the Hyderabad-based airframe MRO organisation will undertake comprehensive repair, overhaul and depot-level maintenance of seven Honeywell Aerospace LRUs installed on LEAP engines that power Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
The scope of work includes complete disassembly, inspection, repair, reassembly and functional testing of critical engine control systems, enabling GMR Aero Technic to support LEAP engine operators in India and other regional markets.
"Our collaboration with Honeywell Aerospace marks a significant step in strengthening our component MRO portfolio. By leveraging Honeywell's technology and our advanced repair infrastructure, we aim to deliver high-quality, efficient and reliable repair solutions for LEAP engine operators in India and across the region," Ashok Gopinath, President and Accountable Manager of GMR Aero Technic, said in a statement.
The partnership is expected to enhance GMR Aero Technic's capabilities in the fast-growing aviation aftermarket while supporting airlines operating next-generation narrow-body aircraft equipped with LEAP engines.
