Gaming firm Lakshya Digital to set up Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Lakshya Digital Pvt. Ltd. will add up to 200 people at its newly set up studio in Bengaluru as the game art creation company seeks to create a Centre of Excellence in India’s Silicon Valley.

The company, one of the largest gaming process outsourcing companies globally and among the biggest game art creators in India, has identified a few focus areas that would help strengthen its presence globally.

“We have identified two-three areas where we want to build competence globally—like hard surface modelling, vehicle creation and animation,” said Manvendra Shukul, chief executive officer at Lakshya.

The studio in Bengaluru is the company’s third in India after Pune and Gurugram, and sixth globally, after Seattle, Tokyo and London. Lakshya has put in place a leadership team in Bengaluru, and while the studio started operations at the end of March, the team is working remotely as of now.

Shukul said that there were some key changes under way in the market, as publishers were looking to reduce costs, resulting in an increase in outsourcing. He said business had grown by about 30% in the past year and expected this to continue going forward. Bengaluru will play a critical role in its expansion plans, he said.

Lakshya has also set up an academy to ensure it has a steady pipeline of trained talent needed for the industry.
