GAIL Eyes Expansion with 85 New CNG Stations by 2028.

State-owned Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) plans to add 85 new compressed natural gas (CNG) stations over the next two years, Director (Finance) Rakesh Kumar Jain said during an analyst call on Monday, February 2, 2026.

Mr. Jain said the company expects gas transmission volumes to rise to 134–135 million standard cubic metres per day (MSCMD) in FY27, while projecting volumes of 124–125 MSCMD for the current financial year.

On global gas supply, he said prices are likely to soften from the next financial year amid abundant availability. “A lot of capacities are coming on stream, which is helping prices come down. We expect prices to soften,” Mr. Jain said, adding that competitive offers could boost gas consumption in India’s price-sensitive market.

Separately, Mr. Jain said GAIL aims to increase its gas sourcing by at least 6–7 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) by 2030, from around 17 MTPA currently. “When we see more demand, which is likely to come, we will take a call,” he said.

The company also expects capital expenditure of ₹9,000–10,000 crore in the next financial year, excluding new projects.

In its natural gas marketing segment, GAIL expects volumes of 109–110 MSCMD in the coming financial year, Mr. Jain said.

Earlier during the call, he said the company would be “actively considering participating” in bidding for new petroleum and petroleum product pipelines, particularly LPG pipelines.

GAIL had earlier said that its natural gas pipeline network crossed 18,000 kilometres at the end of the third quarter.
