First unit of Talwandi Sabo Power Ltd. plant starts production.
Punjab is set to become power cut free with the first unit of the 1,980-MW Talwandi Sabo Power Ltd. (TSPL) becoming operational and adding 660 MW to the national grid.
Besides, POWERCOM has already tied up power from all available sources to meet the anticipated demand of 10,000 MW (2,200 LUs) per day during June and July 2014.
Disclosing this recently, an official spokesman said earlier the first unit of the 700 MW super-critical (2x700 MW) Rajpura thermal power plant had also became operational on trial bases.
Besides, the third power project- GVK's Goindwal plant will be operational very shortly as the coal supply issue have been resolved, the spokesman said.
He said the Union Ministry of Power had also acceded to the State's request and issued a notification asking Coal India Ltd. to sign Fuel Supply Agreements (FSA) to include the Unit-1 of Talwandi Sabo TPP and Unit-1 of Rajpura TPP for 2013-14 besides Talwandi Sabo TPP unit-2 and 3 and Rajpura TPP Unit-2 for 2014-15.
