EEH-Navi Mumbai bridge plan to be rejigged.

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority will have to change the alignment for the Ghatkopar-Ghansoli-Koparkhairane after the civic authority raised objection against building the flyover via the Kanjurmarg dumping ground.

Traveling from Eastern Suburbs to the Navi Mumbai will become even more easier once this bridge is constructed As of now, Motorists commuters have two options to travel to Koparkhairane from Ghatkopar. Either they take Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road and cross the Vashi Toll Naka or travel to Airoli from Eastern Express Highway via Mulund.

A senior MMRDA official said, 'The BMC does not want use to take the bridge above the dumping ground. We had planned to take bridge on the stilt by building pillar in the dumping ground. Since the BMC has raised objections, we are now trying to change the alignment and bring it more closer toward Kannamwar nagar in Vikhroli.'

The road will originate near Ghatkopar and culminate on Palm Beach road near Koparkhairane.

The new route is expected to reduce travel time to Pune and Goa by at least one hou due to shortened distance. At present, Pune- or Goabound vehicles from Mumbai take either the Airoli or Vashi bridge on the Sion-Panvel highway, the traffic load of which will come down once the new bridge is ready.

The bridge will be a short drive to Thane-Belapur Road, which connects with the Pune or Goa highways. For Kalyan, one can take Shil Phata Road via Mahape.
