DPR to Be Prepared for Metro Corridor from Poonamallee to Parandur.

Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) has signed a contract agreement for the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the metro corridor from Poonamallee to Parandur, where a greenfield airport is planned, via Thirumazhisai and Sriperambudur.

The contract, valued at ₹1.74 crore (excluding GST), has been awarded to Aarvee Associates Architects Engineers & Consultants Pvt Ltd, according to a release from CMRL.

The proposed corridor spans 43.63 km and will feature 19 elevated metro stations. The DPR preparation takes into account recent developments, such as the proposed new airport at Parandur, a new bus terminus at Thirumazhisai, and the future growth potential along the corridor. The work will include more than 100 boreholes for soil investigation and a topographical survey using drones for the entire length.

The assignment is expected to be completed by November 2024. An extensive alignment study during the DPR stage will finalize the total number of stations and the details of land requirements, the release added.
