DJB-Tata Power sign MoU to set up 100 water ATMs in city.

Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has collaborated with Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited to install reverse osmosis (RO) systems with water dispensing units in North and West Delhi, where the discom supplies power.

DJB plans to extend its popular 'Water ATM' initiative across the city, installing 500 'ATMs' in a phased manner. The tie-up with Tata Power 'is a major contribution… towards the Swachh Bharat Mission, and a step forward in building a government-corporate partnership to provide potable water,' DJB said in a media release.

DJB CEO Vijay Kumar and Tata Power-DDL CEO Praveer Sinha signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the presence of L-G Najeeb Jung and senior officials of the Delhi government and Tata Power.

'I congratulate Tata Power-DDL and DJB for working together to further enhance the water supply system in the city… This government-corporate partnership will help to explore new opportunities to benefit society,' Jung said.

As part of the MoU, 100 ROs with water dispensing units will be set up - 10 plants will be installed by March 2015, followed by 45 each in 2016 and 2017. Capital and operation & maintenance (O&M) costs will be borne by Tata Power-DDL; DJB will provide land and raw water. TPDDL will be responsible for the quality of water at the dispensing units and ROs.
