Digital clock towers to be introduced in Lanka
Colombo: Dialog Telekom, Sri Lanka’s foremost telecommunications service provider recently entered into an agreement with the Ministry of Local Government and Provincial Councils as part of an urban development project, which would introduce digital clock towers to the country.
Through the agreement Dialog Telekom will modernise existing clock towers and revamp them, including the roundabouts, thus providing a face lift to the centre of the towns. In addition to fixing new digital clocks to the towers, the Company will also paint, refurbish and beautify the surrounding area of the clock towers.
This initiative will be carried out across 152 digital clock towers around the country. As part of this effort Dialog Telekom will be responsible for renovating, maintaining and servicing of the digital clock towers.
The first digital clock tower was unveiled in Dambulla in the presence of Nushad Perera Chief Marketing Officer of Dialog Telekom and under the patronage of Hon. Janaka Bandara Tennakoon, Minister of Local Government and Provincial Councils, and K. G. Somathileke, Chairman of Dambulla Pradeshiya Sabha.
