The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) will build four medical centres to cater to the needs of construction workers and visitors to Expo 2020 Dubai, it was announced recently.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed recently the DHA will first set up an emergency medical centre that will cater to patients during the construction phase of the Expo.

Three additional centres will be opened later on to meet the needs of the nearly 25 million visitors that are expected for the event.

“Health and safety are important priorities for Expo 2020 Dubai, and this collaboration will play a key role in further enhancing our efforts as the pace of our preparations continues to accelerate,” said Reem Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director-General of Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau.

“We are very pleased to be working with the Dubai Health Authority in delivering a world-class event where innovation and creativity can flourish, enabling us to easily deliver Expo’s message to the whole world,” she added.

According to Al Qutami, the DHA has formed a specialised committee responsible for ensuring that the medical centres are ready for the event. Additionally, he noted that the DHA has already began implementing advanced training programmes to strengthen the capabilities of its medical teams and technical support staff.
