Decks cleared for Durga flyover.
Roads and Buildings Principal Secretary B. Shyam Babu recently said that the State government had approved the six-lane elevated corridor for construction of the Kanakadurga flyover in the city.
Participating in a review meeting along with Collector Babu.A here, Mr. Babu said the Inland Water Ways Authority had granted permission for construction of the flyover across the Krishna East Canal.
By October first week this year, competitive bidding should be completed and land acquisition should also be completed by the same time. Flyover works would be taken up immediately, he said.
Mr. Babu said steps were being taken to begin the works after Devi Navaratri Utsavams. To divert traffic during construction, the Inner Ring Road (IRR) would be readied before commencing flyover works.
“We request the APSRTC to set up a temporary bus station at Vidyadharapuram and make necessary arrangements to avoid inconvenience to the passengers. The district administration is planning to take 40 acres on lease from the government, railways and private lands for dumping construction material,” the Collector said.
Irrigation Chief Engineer Sudhakar, Joint Collector Gandam Chandrudu, Municipal Commissioner G. Veerapandian, Sub-Collector S. Nagalakshmi and officers from various departments participated.
