Dabur India to Invest ₹135 Crore in New Manufacturing Facility in Tamil Nadu
Dabur India Ltd. is set to establish its first manufacturing plant in Southern India, having signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu. In the initial phase, the company will invest ₹135 crore in the facility, with plans to scale up the investment to ₹400 crore over the next five years. The plant is expected to be operational within a year.
In a filing with the BSE, Dabur announced that the state-of-the-art multi-category manufacturing facility will be located in SIPCOT Tindivanam, Tamil Nadu. The facility will be one of the company's most modern and environmentally friendly, with the capacity to produce a range of products for the Southern market, including Red Toothpaste, Odonil, and Honey.
“This facility is expected to generate direct employment for around 250 people, in addition to creating thousands of indirect job opportunities,” the company stated.
The MoU was signed on Thursday between Guidance Tamil Nadu, represented by its Managing Director V. Vishnu, and Dabur India, represented by CEO Mohit Malhotra, in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin.
In a post on X, Tamil Nadu’s Industries Minister TRB Rajaa highlighted Dabur's reputation for home care, personal care, and juice products, noting that the company's decision to choose Tamil Nadu reflects the state's thriving industrial ecosystem and readily available workforce. He added that the new facility will create opportunities for farmers in the nearby Delta region to supply agro produce for processing.
Dabur India CEO Mohit Malhotra expressed optimism about the investment, stating, “This investment will allow us to better serve the growing demand for our products in South India and strengthen our market presence in the region. We look forward to contributing to Tamil Nadu’s economic development by creating jobs and working closely with local vendors and supplier partners.”
The strategic location of the new unit is expected to enhance Dabur’s ability to meet business and logistical needs more efficiently, offering significant advantages and growth opportunities.
