The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) for the Eastern Circle, Kolkata, S Mitra, conducted a speed trial of a passenger train on the Nawada-Tilaiya section recently. The 17-km stretch, part of the Kiul-Gaya section in the East Central Railway’s (ECR) Danapur division, was tested for operational feasibility following the completion of track doubling.
Danapur Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Jayant Kumar Choudhary stated that the trial was a key step in optimizing railway operations after the completion of the 124-km Kiul-Gaya track doubling project. The test was successful, with the train meeting the required safety, speed, and performance benchmarks.
Once the section is approved, it will enhance the movement of both passenger and freight trains, minimizing delays and improving efficiency. The Kiul-Gaya double line is now fully electrified, further boosting network reliability, Choudhary added.
According to ECR Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Saraswati Chandra, 107 km of the Kiul-Gaya route had already been doubled, with the recent completion of the remaining 17 km marking the full realization of the project. He emphasized that rigorous safety and operational assessments are crucial for maintaining Indian Railways' high standards. The successful speed trial represents a significant step towards improving connectivity and operational efficiency in the Danapur division.
