Corning, SGD Pharma Establish ₹500 Crore Glass Tubing Facility in Telangana.

Corning Incorporated and SGD Pharma have jointly set up a state-of-the-art glass tubing manufacturing facility in Vemula, Mahbubnagar district, with a total investment of ₹500 crore.

The facility, which was formally inaugurated recently, will produce high-quality Type I borosilicate glass tubing, a key material used in injectable drug packaging, direct injection systems, diagnostics, and biologics. It brings together Corning’s advanced Velocity Vial technology and SGD Pharma’s expertise in vial converting, aimed at meeting growing demand in the pharmaceutical sector.

“This facility marks a significant milestone in addressing regional needs like increased production capacity, closer proximity to customers, and the localisation of supply chains,” said Chris Hudson, Vice President and General Manager, Corning Life Sciences.

The new plant is expected to strengthen India’s pharmaceutical manufacturing ecosystem, enhancing both domestic supply and global export potential for high-grade medical packaging solutions.
