Coal India's new Rajarhat office complex ready.

Coal India's Rs. 180-crore new integrated office complex at Rajarhat New Town is ready and awaiting inauguration.

'The new office building is complete and we are waiting to get inaugurated to begin process of shifting from present office immediately. Inauguration details have not yet been finalised,' Coal India director (technical) N Kumar said.

Coal India has written to the Coal Ministry requesting that President Pranab Mukherjee be the chief guest at the inauguration, sources said.

Coal India will relocate its headquarters to bring all its employees under one roof.

Kumar said it could take a year to complete the relocation.

'We are digitising old documents for easy seamless movement of the office without old bulk physical files,' Kumar said.

Some Coal India departments which are housed in leased properties outside Coal Bhavan will move first to the new office which could be even within March 2015.

Coal India subsidiaries, except Eastern Coalfileds and Bharat Coking Coal which are operating from different offices, may be relocated in Coal Bhavan.
