CMRS Begins Safety Inspection for Final Phase of Mumbai Metro Line 3.

Mumbai Metro Line 3, the city's first fully underground metro, is one step closer to becoming fully operational. The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) began its safety inspection on September 12 for the final section of the Aqua Line, which runs from Worli to Cuffe Parade.

This inspection is the last major hurdle before the entire 33.5-kilometer corridor can open to the public. Officials expect the inspection report to be finalized next week, followed by a final verification. All recommendations from the current inspection will be addressed before the next CMRS visit.

The final 10.99-kilometer stretch will add 11 stations to the line, connecting key business hubs and creating a direct link between Colaba, Worli, Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), and Aarey. Currently, trains on Line 3 are operating on a 22.46-kilometer section between Aarey and Acharya Atre Chowk.

Once fully operational, the new line is expected to significantly ease the burden on Mumbai's crowded suburban railway network and help reduce traffic congestion on city roads.
