CMRS Begins Final Safety Inspection on Mumbai Metro Line 2B.

The Mumbai Metro Rail Project is nearing a major milestone as the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) is set to conduct the final safety inspection of Mumbai Metro Line 2B (Yellow Line). This crucial inspection marks the final step before the line can be opened to the public.

The inspection will focus on Phase 1 of the project, a 5.3-kilometer stretch connecting Mandale and Diamond Garden. This section includes five stations: Diamond Garden, Shivaji Chowk, BSNL, Mankhurd, and Mandale.

Trial runs on this phase began in April 2025, initiated by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

The entire Mumbai Metro Line 2B is a 23.643-kilometer line with 20 stations, running from D.N. Nagar to Mandale. To expedite the project, construction has been split into phases. While Phase 1 is scheduled to open to the public by December of this year, the full line is expected to be operational by 2027.
