CM urges BHEL to speed up work.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has asked Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) to speed up work on the thermal power projects being executed by it in Telangana so as to make the State power surplus as early as possible.

He also asked Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Ltd. (TS-Genco) to set up a new 800 MW unit in place of multiple units with a capacity of 720 MW put together at Kothagudem Thermal Power Station (KTPS), whose life span was coming to an end. He reiterated that the State Government would not give construction of thermal projects to private organisations, irrespective of pressures.

“The ongoing projects should be completed on a fast track,” he asked Chairman of BHEL Atul Sobti at a meeting held in Delhi on Tuesday, Energy Minister G. Jagdish Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director of Telangana generation and transmission corporations D. Prabhakar Rao, Chief Advisor to Government Rajiv Sharma, Principal Secretary in CMO S. Narsing Rao, MPs G.Sukhender Reddy, A. Sitaram Naik, P. Srinivas Reddy, Government’s Representative S. Venugopala Chary and others attended.

Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao asked BHEL to complete the 800 MW KTPS-VII unit by the year-end, speed up work on 4x270 MW Bhadradri Thermal Power Station and complete 5x800 Yadadari ultra mega power project in three years.
