CM Khandu: Arunachal Pradesh Investing ₹1 Lakh Crore in Power Projects.

Arunachal Pradesh is on the cusp of a significant energy transformation, with multiple hydro-power projects representing an investment of over ₹1 lakh crore currently underway, Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced. These ambitious projects aim to generate a staggering 18,000 MW of power, marking a major leap for the state's energy independence and contribution to the national grid.

Chief Minister Khandu confirmed that the state government has strategically allocated these projects to key public sector undertakings. Five projects, with a combined capacity of 2,620 MW, have been assigned to the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NEEPCO). Similarly, five projects totaling 5,097 MW are under the purview of Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVN), while the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) is developing two projects with a substantial capacity of 3,800 MW.

"As of now, on the ground, the work for generating a total of 18000 MW of hydro-power is on. In the coming days, we will add more projects. All these projects involved more than ₹1 lakh crore investment," Khandu told PTI in a recent interview. This massive influx of investment and development is expected to not only meet the region's energy demands but also create significant economic opportunities and employment for the local populace.
