CLP India mulling to set up its first solar power project in India
Mumbai: CLP Power India plans to develop wind power projects with a capacity of more than 200 MW by 2012. Currently, the company is executing wind power projects with a cumulative capacity of around 263 MW in Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra, while it has already operationalised 181.5 MW wind power plants in India. Plans are afoot to set up another wind power project of not less than 50 MW in Rajasthan as well. This apart, the company has received permission from the MoEF to expand the capacity of its Bharuch plant in Gujarat by additional 1,050 MW. It is likely to go ahead with the expansion subject to availability of gas for the power project. The company hopes to commission all the ongoing projects by April 2012. Meanwhile, the company is mulling to set up its first solar power project in India of about 5-10 MW. However, it is yet to finalise the location of the plant.
