Chamber calls for new road project

Madurai: The All India Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Tuticorin, has appealed the State Government to take up the Ettayapuram-Sathur road link via Irrukankudi.

In a letter addressed to Mr K. Allaudin, Principal Secretary, Highways and Minor Ports Department, the Chamber President, Mr J.P. Joe Villavarayer, said that Ettayapuram and Sathur, located on NH-45B and NH-7 respectively, should be linked via Irrukankudi as it will save travelling time. The move to develop the Meelavit an Bypass (NH-7A)-Vanchi Maniyachi road as a pucca double-track road would enable the public to catch nearly 40 trains bound for north and west coast cities, he added.
