BMC okays Marine Drive promenade resurfacing

About a year-and-half after it was mooted to resurface Marine Drive promenade and other roads in the city, the civic standing committee recently approved a proposal to carry out the task.

Now, the administration of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is all set to issue work orders to commence the work.

According to the proposal, the resurfacing of the 4.3-kilometre stretch between National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) at the Nariman Point end and Girgaum Chowpatty will be done using mechanised mastic and cement method. This stretch witnesses heavy traffic every day.

The civic body has decided to improve the stretch after having received complaints of its deteriorating quality.
