Blueprint for NH-17 development unveiled.

A blueprint for the development of the national highway between Edappally and Moothakunnam was unveiled before people’s representatives recently.

It was done at a meeting chaired by District Collector K. Mohammed Y. Safirulla in his chamber in the presence of MLAs V.D. Satheesan, Hibi Eden, and other people’s representatives from areas through which the stretch passes. Not less than 18 flyovers have been proposed on the 25-km stretch. A modern signal-less system has been conceived at Cheranalloor Junction, while an underpass has been proposed at Edappally where the Kochi metro and flyover pass through. Around 500 buildings, including houses and shops, will be affected if the plan is implemented.

A consulting agency has been entrusted with conducting a feasibility study on the direction of the district administration for the development of NH-17 with a width of 45 metres.

Paravur municipal chairman Ramesh D. Kurup, corporation councillor Shiny Mathew, Edappally block panchayat president M.R. Antony, and revenue and NHAI officials attended.
