Birla Corporation Subsidiary Scales Up Kundanganj Plant with Third Line Commissioning..

RCCPL Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Birla Corporation Limited, on Monday commissioned the third production line at its Kundanganj unit, boosting production capacity by 1.4 million tons (MT). Following this expansion, Birla Corporation’s consolidated production capacity stands at 21.4 MT, with plans to further increase it to 27.6 MT by 2028-29. The Kundanganj expansion has an estimated cost of around ₹300 crore.

The additional 1.4 MT of grinding capacity is expected to generate nearly 100,000 direct and indirect jobs, strengthening the company’s competitiveness in central and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Additional clinker for the unit will be sourced from Birla Corporation’s integrated facilities at Satna, Chanderia, and Mukutban.

Aligned with Uttar Pradesh government policies promoting balanced economic growth, Birla Corporation aims to create employment opportunities and support the Union Government’s housing initiatives, including the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G).

The Kundanganj unit has also invested in advanced technology to maximize fly ash utilization for Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC) production, reinforcing the company’s focus on blended cement growth. Infrastructure upgrades, including road and rail connectivity, are being enhanced to support the expansion.

Additionally, a 5-MW solar power plant is being set up at Kundanganj, expected to be operational in the second quarter of the next fiscal year. Once commissioned, the share of renewable energy in the unit’s total power consumption will rise from slightly over 30% to around 40%.

For its capital expenditure at Kundanganj, the company will receive 12-year GST-linked investment promotion incentives. Birla Corporation has also announced capacity expansions at its Maihar unit and plans to establish three new grinding units to reduce lead distances and strengthen its market leadership in high-growth regions.
