Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) recently said the 4X270 MW thermal power plant in Manuguru, Khammam, which it will be establishing for the Telangana State utility, will be commissioned in 24 months.

The Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Ltd. (TSGENCO) and BHEL have formed teams to expedite clearances and are working towards the speedy execution of the project, the public sector enterprise said.

Announcing that the utility had been awarded the over Rs.5,000 crore EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) order, the company said it is the second such order from TSGENCO – previous was for the 800 MW supercritical thermal power plant, on EPC basis, at Kothagudem. TSGENCO has also entered into an MoU with BHEL for the construction of new thermal power plants totalling 6,000 MW and all these power plants are expected to commence generation within the next three years.
