"Bengaluru Metro Yellow Line Train Set Ready for Dispatch"
The first train set for Bengaluru Metro’s Yellow Line, which will connect key locations like Jayadeva Hospital, BTM Layout, Silk Board Junction, and Electronics City, is set to be dispatched on January 6th, confirmed Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya.
Surya shared the update on X, announcing that the initial train is ready for dispatch, with additional deliveries lined up in the coming months. The second train is expected by the end of January or early February, followed by the third in April. Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (TRSL), the supplier, plans to deliver one train per month initially, ramping up to two per month by September.
Tejasvi Surya highlighted the ongoing efforts of the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) to secure all necessary CMRS approvals to avoid further delays in the project.
Maheshwar Rao M., Managing Director of BMRCL, had earlier stated that the first train set was expected to be dispatched by the end of 2024. The trains are being supplied by Kolkata-based Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd, with one train set already ready and two more expected by January 2025.
Surya noted delays in production due to challenges such as visa issues for engineers but assured that Titagarh had set up a dedicated production line to meet BMRCL's requirements. To expedite the process, Surya requested the Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) to visit the Kolkata plant on January 6 to inspect the facility and flag off the trains, confirming his own attendance at the event.
