Avio Smart Market Stack to Set Up Fruit and Vegetable Freeze-Drying Unit in Tripura.

Avio Smart Market Stack Ltd has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tripura to establish a state-of-the-art freeze-drying facility for fresh fruits and vegetables, marking a step towards strengthening agro-processing infrastructure in the Northeast.

Under the agreement, the company will develop a project titled “A Freeze-Drying Initiative on Fruits and Vegetables for Tripura.” The facility is expected to create direct employment opportunities for around 500 people and indirect employment for another 800, while building a stronger value chain for the state’s horticulture sector.

The project aims to reduce post-harvest losses by deploying advanced freeze-drying technology to extend the shelf life, preserve quality and improve the marketability of locally grown agricultural produce. The initiative is also expected to help farmers access premium domestic and international markets, enhance income opportunities and reduce food wastage.

The MoU was signed during the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026, an investment promotion initiative focused on attracting businesses and accelerating industrial development in the state.

As part of the conclave, the Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Tripura, organised interactions between Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha, investors, entrepreneurs and foreign delegates. During a meeting with Dr. Raja Krishna Murthy M, Head – Agri Tech Business, Avio Smart Market Stack, the Chief Minister appreciated the proposed freeze-drying project and its potential role in strengthening Tripura’s agri-processing ecosystem.

The company said the initiative aligns with its focus on technology-driven agricultural solutions aimed at improving farmer incomes, enhancing food processing capabilities and promoting sustainable economic growth.

“This project reflects our commitment to strengthening India’s agri-tech infrastructure at the grassroots level. Tripura’s rich agricultural base, combined with the state government’s proactive support, makes it an ideal location for our freeze-drying facility,” said Dr. Raja Krishna Murthy Morla, Head – Agri Tech Business, ASMS.

He added that the company plans to work closely with local farmers and stakeholders to develop a sustainable fruits and vegetables value chain while bringing advanced food processing technologies closer to production centres.
