"Ather Energy Explores Plans for New Manufacturing Facility"
Ather Energy, the leading electric two-wheeler manufacturer based in Bengaluru, is on a mission to enhance its production capacity by establishing a brand-new manufacturing facility, as confirmed by a senior company executive.
In discussions with several state governments across India, Ather Energy is diligently evaluating potential locations for this upcoming manufacturing unit. Ravneet Phokela, the Chief Business Officer of the company, disclosed that the new facility would be strategically located outside of Tamil Nadu and Hosur, where Ather Energy currently operates its manufacturing operations. When combined with the existing facilities, the company aims to achieve an impressive annual production capacity of 420,000 units.
The move to expand production capacity comes at a time when the demand for electric vehicles (EVs) in the domestic market is witnessing remarkable growth. However, Ather Energy is not limiting its ambitions to the Indian subcontinent alone; it has ambitious plans to venture into international markets, with an official announcement expected in the near future.
Phokela highlighted the company's international aspirations, stating, "International is very much part of our plans. But international expansion typically starts paying off the scale in about four to five years. If we have to get dividends five years from now, we have to start investing today. We might make an announcement as early as the next couple of months for the first market."
Ather Energy's international expansion strategy is rooted in a meticulous analysis of potential overseas markets. The company has identified substantial demand in three key regions: Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the European market. While the specifics of the initial international market remain undisclosed, Phokela hinted, "At present, our focus is on entering the market which is easy."
As Ather Energy charts its path towards global expansion, the company's efforts to bolster production capacity signal its commitment to meeting the surging demand for electric two-wheelers, both within India and beyond its borders. With plans underway and a keen eye on international horizons, Ather Energy is poised for significant growth and impact in the EV industry.
