Assam Cabinet Approves ₹600-Cr Youth Skilling Project.

The Assam Cabinet has approved a ₹600 crore project to establish skill development centers across the state in partnership with the Tata group's Nelco. The initiative aims to provide training to approximately 500,000 youths.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the decision at a press conference on Thursday following a cabinet meeting. He stated that the project will be jointly funded by Nelco and the state government.

“The state cabinet has approved the nomination of Tata's Nelco as a strategic partner with Sarba Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) for the implementation of a 50 hubs and 500 spokes model for skill education across Assam,” Sarma said.

The "hubs and spokes" model is designed to create a network of skill education centers, with 50 primary hubs and 500 smaller "spokes" to ensure widespread access to training programs across the state. This project is a key part of the government's strategy to boost youth employment and economic development.
