APPCB Clears Two Google Data Centre Sites.

The Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) has granted Consent to Establishment (CTE) for two of the three sites earmarked for a 1-GW AI data centre hub being developed by Google in partnership with the Adani Group and Bharti Airtel.

The approvals cover the Rambilli site in Anakapalle district and the Tarluvada site in Visakhapatnam. The project is part of a larger plan to establish a major AI-focused data centre hub in the state.

N. Chandrababu Naidu, along with IT Minister Nara Lokesh and representatives from the partner companies, is expected to lay the foundation stone, marking the start of construction.

In a statement, APPCB Member Secretary S. Srisaravanan clarified that the consent for the Rambilli site has been issued strictly from a pollution control perspective. “This consent order is issued from the pollution control point of view only. Zoning and other regulations are not considered. This order is valid for seven years from the date of issue,” he said.
