Andhra Pradesh Partners with Centre on BharatNet to Expand Rural Broadband Infrastructure.

Digital Bharat Nidhi has signed an agreement with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to implement the amended BharatNet programme in the state, backed by financial support of ₹2,432 crore from the Centre, according to an official statement issued recently.

The pact was signed between Digital Bharat Nidhi, the Andhra Pradesh government, Andhra Pradesh BharatNet Infrastructure Limited, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited and Andhra Pradesh State FiberNet Limited for the implementation of the amended programme aimed at accelerating broadband connectivity across rural parts of the state.

The Government of India has approved ₹2,432 crore in financial support for the initiative, which is expected to enable more than five lakh rural home fibre connections across Andhra Pradesh, the statement said.
