Amusement park goes green.

Wonderla amusement park went green with the launch of a solar plant with an installed capacity of 500 kW that marks roughly half the power requirement for the 43 rides that it offers at Ravirala on the outskirts of the State capital.

Throwing open the solar plant, Secretary-IT Jayesh Ranjan said the government was committed to promoting green energy and that it firmly believed in the future being in renewable energy.

He said the green initiatives of the youngest State in India were drawing appreciation and said the government would support Wonderla in its renewable energy moves.

Managing director of Wonderla, Arun Chittilappilly, said he was pleased to announce complete operationalisation of the 500 kW plant that the Telangana government had permitted them to.

The Ravirala facility thus became the first amusement park in India to go solar to this extent, he said, adding that they had sought permission for another 500 kW capacity, with which all the rides could be completely operated with solar power.
