"Ahmedabad Metro Phase II reaches completion as PM Modi inaugurates the last remaining stretch."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the remaining stretch of Phase II of the Ahmedabad Metro, completing the metro rail connectivity between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.

The newly operational section connects Sector 10A in Gandhinagar with the Mahatma Mandir Convention Centre. Modi flagged off a metro service from the Mahatma Mandir station, formally commencing operations on the stretch.

In a post on X later in the day, the Prime Minister said the new metro link would boost the “ease of living” for residents of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.

The stretch passes through key locations, including the Sachivalaya complex, Akshardham Temple, the old Sachivalaya, and Sectors 16 and 24.

Ahmedabad Metro Phase II is an extension of Phase I and aims to connect Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar through two corridors spanning a total length of 28.2 km with 22 stations, according to Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited.

Modi was accompanied at the inauguration by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi. The Prime Minister had earlier inaugurated metro services connecting Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar in September 2024.

Following the ceremony, Patel and Sanghavi travelled by metro to the Sachivalaya station.
