"Ahemdabad-Based Nepra to Invest ₹650 Crore in Expanding Waste Treatment in North and North-East India"

Nepra Resource Management Pvt Ltd, an Ahmedabad-based waste management company, plans to invest ₹650 crore over the next two years to establish waste treatment and segregation infrastructure in North and North-East India.

Sandeep Patel, CEO of Nepra Resources, shared the company's expansion plans with Businessline, noting that Nepra currently manages over 1,000 tonnes of waste daily in cities such as Ahmedabad, Indore, Pune, Jamnagar, and Bengaluru. The company has already invested ₹250 crore in handling solid dry waste in these cities and is now focusing on extending its operations to North India and the North-East.

Patel revealed that the upcoming investment will be used to develop waste treatment and segregation facilities, known as Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs), in states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra. The company is in the process of raising the necessary funds through a combination of equity and structured debt.

With an annual consolidated revenue of approximately ₹250 crore and an impressive 80 percent year-on-year growth, Nepra Resources is also a significant supplier of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF). Each year, the company supplies about 300,000 tonnes of RDF to major cement producers such as Ultratech, India Cements, ACC, and Dalmia Cements, thereby reducing their reliance on coal.

The plastic waste converted into RDF is collected from various urban local bodies that Nepra has partnered with, reinforcing the company's commitment to enhancing waste management practices across the country.
