Agra Metro to Generate Power Utilizing Third Rail

In an innovative approach, the Agra Metro has undertaken the installation of a third rail traction system, a unique initiative that will serve as a power source for the trains. Notably, the network will forego the traditional Overhead Equipment (OHE), which is prone to tripping when it comes into contact with other projects.

The completion of the third rail traction work is a significant milestone achieved at the Agra Metro Rail Depot and on the elevated section. Engineers involved in the project highlighted that the third rail system, identifiable by yellow markings, runs parallel to the track. This innovative system is expected to streamline power supply while eliminating potential issues associated with traditional OHE setups.

Officials further disclosed that the implementation of the third rail system has commenced in the underground section of the Agra Metro Rail Project. This forward-thinking approach aims to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the metro rail network in Agra.
