Adani Power Wins 800 MW Additional Capacity From MPPMCL Under 'Greenshoe Option'.

Adani Power Ltd. (APL) announced recently that it has been awarded an additional 800 MW of power generation capacity by MP Power Management Company Ltd. (MPPMCL) under a "Greenshoe Option." This adds to the 800 MW it previously secured in the same bidding process, bringing the total capacity awarded by MPPMCL to 1,600 MW.

The new capacity was granted at the same tariff of ₹5.838 per kWh.

This new award marks the fifth major power supply order for APL in the past year, increasing the company's total awarded capacity to 7,200 MW.

To fulfill this agreement, APL will build a new 1,600 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant in the Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh. The project will be developed under a Design, Build, Finance, Own, and Operate (DBFOO) model, with an estimated investment of ₹21,000 crore. Both of the plant's 800 MW units are expected to be commissioned within 60 months of the appointed date.
